So you may remember some posts back that I was going to Scotland in August. Well I have gone and come back. A longer more detailed post(s) to follow. I am back at work and desperate for hours/money as the trip pretty muched wiped us out.

But I absolutely LOVED it!! I didn't want to leave, would've been completely happy to stay, good thing someone made me promise to come back, and am ready and willing to move there at the first opportunity.

In the meantime I am back at work. We FINALLY got 2 new key machines so that each computer has its own key machine now. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I managed to pick up a shift tomorrow so that I am working 4 days this week instead of 3. I even got my shift on Friday moved from 1-9 to 12-8 so I could make my movie meetup!!

Well, just about 2 hours left. Counting down time! :D

Please come support me at the fundraiser!!

Ok so I finally got the ok to post this:

Jon and I are going to Soctland as part of a Study Abroad program through Greenville Tech. The group of us students that are going are having a fundraiser Monday July 13 at 7pm at Greenville Tech main campus at the TRC auditorium. It is a play reading of The Clean House. Everyone that can please come out and help support us. All proceeds go to the fundraising for the group. The more we raise the less we have to pay out of pocket. Please please help us raise money for our program!!

Tonsil Day Tomorrow

So tomorrow morning I have to be up before the sun to be at the hospital at 6:30 am to have my tonsils removed at 8:30 am. Fun, fun. Who knew it would take 2 hours to prep me for a at most 45 minute procedure? I should spend a total of 4-5 hours in the hospital (as my doc said "from the moment you step in the hospital to the moment you step out). So, tonight my mom is picking me up and I'm staying with her tonight on account of having to be up and there so early and after we leave the hospital we will stop by the apt to see jon and sara (or more for them to see me) and then back to my parents to sleep the day away.

If I am cognitive at all Thursday I'll post an update. If not I'll have jon do it. So, if I'm MIA for a few days (more than usual) that's why.

:D

Tonsils part 2

So I went to my 2 pre-op appts today. First one was at the specialist's office. Met with the nurse who went over my prescriptions with me and a paper to read about the procedure and then some papers to sign. Then she left and the doctor came in and listened to my heart and went over all the questions on my list with me. He was very nice. I really like that the doctor takes time to see me and that he only does this procedure under general instead of the optional local. Especially since my manager said I probably wouldn't see my doctor today. (Ha!) I went ahead and got my doctor's note for work and so far I will be out the 28th-5th. I have a follow-up appt on the 3rd at which point he will determine if I'll be ready to go back after the 5th or if I need more time off. Found out from my doctor that I should only be in the hospital about 4 hours.

Left there and drove over to the hospital for my second pre-op. Went to registration, gave name, was handed clipboard and buzzer. I wasn't finished filling out the paper and I got called back which was pretty cool. Went through the business registration part and back to the waiting room. Called back a few minutes later by the nurse. Weighed and vitals taken, along with several various questions asked, procedure went over, the nurse went over my prescriptions with me, and called the anesthesiologist (sp?) to come meet with me. Met with him, went over the process of everything and he filled out his part on the computer. Found out my surgery is at 8:30 in the morning. Then the part we all dread: they had to draw blood. I had already told the first nurse, Amanda, that I was a hard stick so she called another nurse, Linda, in to try. Linda spent several minutes trying to find a good vein in my arms including thumping the veins in my arm before moving to my right hand to try. She got the needle in and her and Amanda even got it into a valve but the valve closed causing a rather loud OW! from me. So they pulled out the needle and called a lady in the lab to come draw. She found a vein in my left arm on the inside right at the bend and was able to get the vial of blood drawn. I have to admit she did really good as I didn't even feel the pinch.

After that I sat sipping water for a few minutes before driving Jon and I back home and taking an hour nap before work.

I'll find out Wednesday of next week what time I have to be at the hospital. My mom will be taking me there as it is very early in the morning and jon doesn't get out of work until 1:45 am.

I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

Health

So, for those of you who do/don't know: I've been fighting with sinus/ear/throat issues most of my life. I'm almost always having sinuses issues due to the screwy weather here. Which leads to the ear/throat issues. So, for quite some time I have been of the opinion that my tonsils have stopped being effective and have even switched sides (as bill cosby would say). So, I've been trying to find a doctor who will remove my tonsils. My first attempt went as far as the MedCenter in the Bi-Lo where the lady there told me that if I have strep 3 times in a 12 month time period then they would see about sending me to someone to have them removed. This was a few years back. And as luck would have it, I'd have strep 3 times, but not quite in a 12 month time period. So, no luck.

Fast forward to moving to Simpsonville and going to Dr. Care for yet again throat issues. I swore it felt like I had strep but they did the swab and it came back negative. Fed up with being sick with something every month I level with the doc. I tell him I want to talk to someone about removing my tonsils. I recount everything to him. He sets me up to see a specialist. Went to see a specialist beginning of april. Recount everything to him. He does an endoscopy of my nose in the office, sets me up for a ct scan of my sinuses, and tells me at the very least he wants to take my tonsils out and while he is in there take out my adnoids if they have grown back. SCORE!! Finally, right? (Yeah I didn't know they could grow back either!) (I had my adnoids out when I was 3) So, I go for the ct scan.

Wednesday before frolicon I find out that my insurance is going to get cancelled end of the day that Friday. What happened was in Dec we had to cut back at the front desk. I was starting a second job and told my manager to cut from me first even to the point of only working me 2-3 days (turns out had I not done this he would have had to let someone go and we were already on a skeleton crew as is). I was fine with only working 2-3 days as long as it didn't mess up my insurance. The HR manager was supposed to keep an eye on my hours and let my manager and I know if he needed to bump me up a little bit so that at the end of the quarter I'd have a grace quarter to get my hours back. Also, during the grace quarter we'd be busy enough that I'd have my hours back up and everything would be fine. Well, she dropped the ball BIG TIME and I lost my insurance. The next day I get a call from teh specialist office saying the results came in, and there are some places in there so he wants to do an allergy test and still remove my tonsils/possible adnoids. I tell her everything that is going on and she tells me what she can, but in the end HR screws me over and there is nothing to do but wait on COBRA.

So, last week I sent in the stuff for COBRA, called and set up my surgery and now we wait. :D

I have a 2 pre-op appts: 1 with the specialist office and 1 with the hospital on the 20th. My surgery is the 28th. My follow-up is the 3rd of June.

So, who out there has had their tonsils out and what has your experience been? The lady who scheduled my surgery told me the doctor will want me out for 2 weeks. Is this normal?? I asked my mom and she said that she had hers taken out when she was 23 on a Friday and was back to work the next Tuesday.
But I'd love to pick everyone's brain on this. :D

Ok, I fibbed. One more quick post before break time.

School:

So, as you may know I started out the semester with 3 classes and then had to drop 2 of them as I was basically working 2 fulltime jobs and taking 3 classes. So, here is the end of the semester and I am finishing up Medical Office Procedures class. I've only missed 3 assignments in the class: 2 homeworks and a simulation and I still have an 81. All that is left is my final exam.

I know, bad me for missing stuff but each time was for good reason, various. Both times were due to me being real bad off sick with sinuses and related crap. The simulation same sickness, plus period, plus worn out/worn down, plus way too much going on my plate and the general feeling of exhaustion, so on, so forth, etc.

I was worried that missing my simulation would hurt me real bad but glad to see I have a B (although I had a 93 before missing it), I just couldn't get it done.

I'm also taking 1 class this summer: Medical Transcription. It starts June 1st. It's the only class I am taking this summer. As long as I pass it I'll be finished with my certification. Then in the fall I'll start working on my elementary education degree. Not sure how many classes I'll take but absolutely no more than 3. I'd love to be able to take 4 a semester but I have learned my limits the hard way. Who knows, depending on what I have to take I may be able to take 4. I'm just looking forward to break between classes/semesters and worried about how to pay for my summer class (on top of everything else)

Not really but I do have a bit of down time. I have been slack on posting though. But I have been kinda busy with lots of stuff that I will post separately so it looks better or something. Heck I don't know. :D But this can be my work post:

Of which there is nothing much to report. Or at least nothing new. We are getting busier, selling out more. Which is good. I am back to 5 days a week as michael is determined to get my hours back up for to get my insurance back.
(yeah don't know if I posted about that, I'll probably post it in one of my other ones as it is relevant to that too.)
Other than that, just dealing with the same general nonsense from both the employee side and the guest side. I may post to customers suck about some general rant stuff. Oh! We have a new security guy. I like him, he means business. YAY!!!

Ok, probably off to break and then back to work/more posts. :D

On the laptop. Counting the time down to 11 pm. Today has been decently productive, although not so much in the room. Spent suggle/cuddle time with jon last night. Slept later today than I meant to (just couldn't manage to stay awake. Jon went out for food and we ate in bed while watching supernatural online. :D Suggled/cuddled/teased til time to get ready for work. Jon drove me to work and then went for coffee for me. He went home while I flew through my checklist. I started going through my emails. He came back up with lunch for me and after the rush I was able to finally eat. And now here I am. Waiting for 11 pm. Where as time was flying by earlier (an hour would pass by in what felt like 5 minutes) is now the reverse (5 minutes feel like an hour). It always happens that phil leaves for a shuttle run and I get busy with people coming to the desk, gift shop, and the phone ringing. But such is Murphy's Law. The good thing is the coffee I had earlier seems to still be in effect and my knees and feet don't seem to hurt as bad as they usually do.

Almost caught up with supernatural and halfway finished with Life season 2.

Time to post and get the last hour of work knocked out.

I'm going on a trip!!

So, I applied for an International Studies program at Greenville Tech. It's a 10 day festival in Scotland. Actually it is the largest theatre festival in the world I think. And I just found out yesterday that I passed all the qualifications and now I just have to come up with the money and I'm good to go. The money is paid in increments so they can get the plane tickets and stuff.

So according to the flyer it is August 6-16. I'll be in Scotland on my birthday. I'm sooooo excited!!!!!! :D

So, I mostly work second shift. Actually that has been the trend in most of the jobs I have had in my life. So, a lot of the shows I want to watch I miss cause I'm at work and too cheap for tivo or dvr. So, I would either rent them or buy the seasons if it was something I knew I like (Supernatural, House, etc.) Jon for the longest time has been trying to get me to watch stuff online. I have been strictly opposed cause I don't like watching stuff on a desktop. It's never a comfortable enough to sit and watch anything. A friend when hearing I was getting a laptop said that me not wanting to watch stuff online would change when I got the laptop cause I could sit anywhere (Couch, bed, etc.)

And boy was she right!

I am soo addicted to watching shows online now. I watch Saving Grace online cause we don't have TNT. I watch Castle and Lie to Me and Dollhouse online when I miss them cause of work or school.

I like the abc and fox website because they post the episodes the next day. TNT generally won't have Saving Grace on (which airs on Monday) til about Friday. CW will post One Tree Hill (airs on Monday) usually on Thursday.
In case any of you were wondering about that, there's a little schedule for you. :D

I am now the proud owner of a laptop!

I know, I know, about time right?? Well, I got a good bit of money back from school this semester and Dell was having a really good sell, so Jon and I both got a laptop. And since I mainly use it for school I can claim it on my taxes! YAY!!

Actually I have had the laptop for about 3 or so weeks, but this is the first chance I have had to sit done and post on it. And I wanted my next post to be from the laptop.

So, yeah I'm completely addicted to my laptop. It is pretty neat. I take it to work sometimes. Like tonight I will probably take it with me. :D

School the first week

So, last week was the first week of school. I was really good and went to all my classes. Monday was theatre 101, which is supposed to be introduction to theatre. I was a few minutes late due to there being no parking, but I wasn't the only one. I ended up making friends with a guy that I walked in late with. I feel pretty secure in the friendship based on what happened later. So, anyway the teacher is really interesting. He was going over the syllabus and the daily schedule. For an intro class, we sure do a lot. For example, a set design project, a playwriting project with loads of stuff including at least 2 pages of dialogue, a final project, go see 2 plays and write papers on them, etc. I swear as the teacher was talking about all this my eyes kept getting wider and wider. So, he went over everything and then we met over at center stage to see a play. Now I was one of the first ones there so when they opened the stage doors to let people in to be seated, I grabbed one front row and center. As other people starting filing in, the seat to my right was taken leaving only the seat on my left. The guy, Andy, that I had talked to in class came in almost when the play was supposed to start. He didn't see me and took a seat on the side. After sitting on the side and sitting everything down, he saw me and I waved. From across the room he mouths and does handspeak "Is that seat taken?" I shake my head and without another word he gathers everything up and comes over to sit with me. :D Yay! I like making new friends. So, we both do that 2 jobs and school thing and through the course of conversation I told him I do taxes. He asked me some questions about the benefits of going through a tax company and now he wants me to do his taxes. YAY!
Tuesday is Psych, Intro to. The teacher is really neat. She doesn't seem that much older than me. She may even be younger. But she had us go around and do this neat introduction game to start off with. Then we paired up and did a t/f on psych statements, after that we got into some lecture. After class I asked her about this guy she had mentioned and she went on the computer and showed me parts of the youtube videos for it. Very cool.
Thursday I really debated on going to class, Medical Offices and Procedures. It is the one I am making up. But in the end I was a good little student and went. I'm still wondering if that was a good idea. I went to class and sat in the same seat I did last semester. (I'm a creature of habit). She saw, recognized, and remembered me. She hands out a schedule and starts going over everything with the class. We start going through the syllabus. Now let me interrupt with a bit of backstory. Last semester everything happened. Well not everything but close to it. I was working fulltime, taking too much classes (cause I didn't think I had any other option), got tendonitus, moved, etc. I had to wear the splints during which I couldn't do school work. Anytime last year that I was out or anything happened I emailed the teacher. Cause they tell you, communicate and let them know what is going on so they can help you. There were 3 classes that I was behind in when the splints came off (only 3 because I was ahead in the other 2). All of my other teachers worked with on making up any missed work. This teacher when I emailed her about making up the work/what to do (after she said she would email me about when to make up a simulation and she didn't) told me she didn't think there was enough time in the semester to make up the work and her best advice to me was to take the class over in the spring. She didn't even mention anything to me about taking an incomplete (which is what my transcription teacher let me do, granted she is at Trident and not GTC but they have the same basic policy.) Fast forward to Thursday night. We get to the part of the syllabus about incompletes. She is standing in front of the class and we have quite a few students. She reads off the part about incompletes, starts explaining it a bit and then looks over to me and says in front of everyone "Jessica, you know last semester you could've taken an incomplete." I was stunned. I didn't even know how to respond to that. I just didn't really say anything and she was already back to explaining incompletes to the class. I was soo something, I about lost it in class. I started texting Jon until class was over just to not cry or something. I mean, here I am, I worked my ass off last semester. I never gave up, I never quit. I did my best and tried soooo hard to pass my classes. And I asked her what to do last semester and she never said anything about taking an Incomplete. On my way home I called my mom and ended up crying on the phone to her about it. I still told Jon and my roommate about it. So, yeah I think next time I have the bright idea to skip a class, I think I'm going to follow through with it.

So, I am off school today cause of the holiday. Tomorrow I am hoping for enough snow that tomorrow night's class gets cancelled. And then Thursday it is class again. Hopefully this week she won't make me cry.

SO, yeah I am at the tax office (it is that time of year again) waiting for 6pm (closing time), texting jon and sara and deciding to finally post some of all that I have to post about.

School is back in session. Last semester I finished with 3 "As", 1 "F", and 1 "I". I tried my best, really I did. But seeing as I was taking 5 classes with a workload of 6 classes and working fulltime I think I did pretty good. I am making up the assignments from the "I" this semester and will hopefully have an "A" from it. I am also retaking the class that I made the "F" in. So, it'll start out with about 4 classes of work, but I'll finish the make-up work before mid feb.

The hotel is doing really bad so I dropped to 2 days there on the condition that it wouldn't mess up my insurance and am picking up the hours at the tax office (where I get paid more anyway).

So, my classes this semester are: Med Offices and Procedures, Psych, and Theatre. (Plus the bit of make up work for trans.)

Roommate bought Wii Fit last week. We all made profiles and have been working out. It only lets you set a weight loss goal of 22 lbs at a time. So, of my first 22 lbs goal I am already down to 19.4! I have been very good and worked on it everyday except last night when I let time get away with me and I knew it wouldn't count it as Wed. so I am just going to do all of it tonight. I need to gt back up to 30minutes-1hour anyway. I've been a little slack.

We rented Animal Crossing: City Folk. It is addictive. Highly. I have a new phrase for it. Instead of "playing ac" I call it "tapping the vein". A phrase I totally took from puppy by the way!!

I am going to Savannah this weekend. Will be leaving sometime tomorrow and coming back sometime on Sunday. I just feel I need a little getaway before everything kicks into high gear (school, tax season, etc)

Not much else. At least not that this tired brain can think of. Love to all.

I worked very very hard and got the living room in an actual living condition. we were actually able to sit on all the furniture last night and watch a movie in the living room. It was great! I am quite pleased with myself.

Yesterday Misc.

Ok so alot happened yesterday. Figured I'd just randomize the title and fill in the blanks. so yesterday sara (roomie) and I went to GTC. She took her last exam and I took my review. We went from there to the GTC bookstore to sellback our books (for which we got bent over on) She got $42 and I got $36 and a few of her books they wouldn't even buy back because the school had just changed the edition. I still have to go tomorrow and sell my last 2 books back. After that we met jon at a china buffet place in simpsonville. Not the greatest by far. We all went back home and I wasn't feeling good (not from the food) so I laid down. Jon woke me right before he went to work. I went downstairs and started working in the kitchen. Sara came down and helped me. We made dinner, and the three of us had a home-cooked, sit down meal (all of us there and sitting down) for the first time. After that jon went back to work and sara and I tackled the kitchen again. While dishes were running is the washer I put together a bookcase and put it upstairs almost filling all the shelves. So, that took some random books that were laying around and a couple of boxes worth unpacked. Then sara and i decided to go to walmart and get stuff for the house. Went there, got stuff, came back. While at walmart we scored a double curtain rod set for $5, orginally $25. Really nice set. Very pretty. I'll try and get pictures and post them. Sara and I came back and put up the curtains and curtain rod (by ourselves even). It was a funny thing involving standing on a folding chair and the loveseat (seriously at one point I was balanced on the arm of the loveseat.) Using a hammer and commom screwdriver to take the old fixture off and a phillips to put the new on. After that accomplishment we put together the shell of a second bookcase. Couldn't put the shelves on cause we had the wrong pegs. Moved the bookcases upstairs (well the first was already up there but we ended up moving it from the hallway to the bedroom.) We also put a footstool together. moved some stuff from the living room to my bedroom. We were tempted to put the entertainment center together but neither of us felt quite that brave. Almost everything in the kitchen is washed now so I can arrange the shelves. YAY!! I think the next thing I'll do is change the doorknob on the storage building. It shouldn't be too hard since there is already a doorknob which means there is already the holes for it. :D I feel really proud of myself and quite accomplished. I'll see about taking pictures of everything we did and posting them.

Today I woke up and after laying around a bit, went downstairs and took my last exam. FINALS ARE FINALLY OVER!!!!!

I had to take 3 finals this semester:
windows/outlook theory: 98
windows/outlook hands-on: 100
clinical pharmacology: 87.2499

I still have transcription reports to make up for my trident tech class but those are only one chapter a week. Not nearly as bad as 5 classes in a single semester (on top of everything else).

Tomorrow I have to come by work before HR leaves to turn in insurance paperwork so that I still have insurance in 2009. And I have to take my last set of books to the school to sell.

That's all for now folks! :D

Nothing like waking up at 7:24 am. Especially when you have the alarm set for 9. And then not being able to go back to sleep.
So, I am sitting here at the computer. I'm technically supposed to be doing my transcription which I have been putting off all week. Which I was going to do last night but I fell asleep first. So, I went online and to Myspace to see what new stuff I have. And now I am listening to Seether songs making a playlist for my page.

(You sent me a message on the 30th. I was actually at work but for some reason not online when you were and sent the message. And now I keep watching for you. Silly lamb.)

Seether is going to be playing in Columbia in April. They will be playing with Nickelback and Saving Abel. I am going. Period.

Winter is setting in. I'm not sure I like it. I feel down and not quite sure why. Not sure if it is that winter depression thing or what. Maybe that is why Christmas is in December. Maybe no one could survive otherwise.

I'm hoping we get massive amounts done here today. It is really getting to me, the house being disorganized like this.

(Where are you? This isn't fair. You leave a message for me, but the last time that happened and I replied it started WW3.)

Gods, my music selection really says a lot about me huh?

I need to get started on my reports. It will be 9 soon. The alarm is upstairs and as I am not it will surely wake Jon. Maybe.

Whatever....I go to be productive. Whatever that means.

I am, guessing roughly here, in the size 18. In that I have a pair of size 18 jeans that fit me basically. Then I have a pair of size 16 stretch jeans that I think were stretched pretty good when I got them that fit me better than the 18 jeans. Anyway, I needed new work pants, my others were wearing out. I foolish ordered size 16 because I thought my work pants were size 18 and they were loose on me. So, pants get here. Nice new pants. That don't fit. Well, they fit but I can't move in them. Like painted on tight. Not appropriate for work. So now I need to drop a pants size. And a half maybe. At most, for the moment, 2 pants sizes. Quickly.

Any suggestions????

Ok so ages ago I wrote this story. Or at least the beginning of one. I was at work and it just came to me in the way that all my writings do. I went Fictionpress.com, signed in, and wrote it out. I didn't write on paper or Word first. Just wrote what came to me.

So, I thinking about digging my old stories out and seeing if I can make any progress in them. So, I went to Fictionpress and reread that first part of the story.

Now I would like everyone else to do the same please. Go to Fictionpress.com, search in author for kelterra. I have 2 entries, one is the story and one is a poem that ILP published. But if everyone would please go read the story and then give me your honest opinion, thoughts, comments, questions, etc. You can either post a review there or post something here or both by the wonder that is copy/paste.

Thank you!! :D
